I offer a space to connect with yourself, explore your problems and process what you've been through — at your own pace and with someone who cares by your side.
About me and my practice
I'm a person-centred therapist providing counselling and psychotherapy to adults. My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, valued and trusted, so that you can hear, value and trust yourself in return. I centre your voice and support you to tap into your own internal sense of what is right for you, so that you can understand yourself better and find your own solutions to your problems. I want you to leave therapy feeling empowered and better able to address the challenges you face.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and adjust my practice to your needs. I'm committed to making my practice accessible and I take an anti-oppressive approach to therapy, which means that I consider how experiences of discrimination (such as sexism, racism and disablism) and your wider social context may have played a role in what you bring to therapy.
The most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between client and therapist, so it's important to me that I'm genuine and open with you. I don't put on a professional front: I allow my emotional responses and personality to come through in our sessions, while maintaining my focus on you. You can ask me questions at any time and I check in with clients regularly to make sure that therapy is working for you.
Training and experience
I have an MSc (master's degree) in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. My training included several years of personal therapy, so I know what it's like to be a therapy client.
I've worked at Mind, in the NHS and in private practice with people of varied ages, genders, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my clients are neurodivergent. I have particular experience supporting people who have been through abuse, taking a gentle, trauma-informed approach. I also work with people who are anxious, depressed, stressed or just generally struggling with life or relationships. Together we can figure out what's going on and how to make things better.
I often (but not exclusively!) work with LGBTQIA+ clients: I'm queer myself and affirming of all forms of gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. It's tough out there at the moment and I'll always be on your side, whether you want to explore aspects of your identity or something else.
My NHS work has primarily been with people who have a diagnosis of functional neurological disorder (FND). If you have this diagnosis, I can support you to understand your condition and address the nervous system overwhelm that often lies behind FND.
Next steps
Please get in touch if you'd like more information or to book an initial session: I'd love to hear from you! In the initial session we'll discuss what brings you to therapy and you can get a sense of what it's like to work with me. You can then decide whether you'd like to book in again.
I also I offer a 20-minute introductory phone call free of charge so you can get to know me and ask any questions before booking in.

Accessibility Comments
My practice room at Sheffield Therapy Collective is on the ground floor and has step-free level access. There is a ground-floor toilet that is currently not wheelchair accessible. Click here for more detailed information on accessibility. I work from room 3.
I am happy to wear a mask for face-to-face sessions. I have fidget toys, paper and pens, water and hot drinks available in my practice room. You are welcome to move around, stretch, stim and take breaks as necessary during sessions. The lighting in the room is adjustable.
Please get in touch if you have any accessibility needs and I will do my best to meet them or let you know if I can't. -

Fees statementI have a limited number of concession slots for those who cannot afford my usual fee. I also offer fortnightly sessions, which is an alternative way to keep the cost of therapy down. Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss either of these options.
