- Person-Centred counsellor/therapist
Hi, I'm Tara,
I understand that coming to see a counsellor may feel daunting, and want to help you feel more at ease. As a person, I am genuine, calm and down to earth, and I treat everyone as an individual. I feel people find me easy to talk to, and as a counsellor, I aim to be fully present whatever you choose to share. My approach is respectful and non-judgemental, so you can feel able to talk openly without fear of criticism, and where you are valued just as you are.
I trained as a counsellor later in life, as age and life experiences led me down this path of my own self-discovery. I believe counselling can be for anyone, and we all have the potential to grow, heal and discover more about ourselves and what we want from life. Whatever it is your finding difficult or want to explore right now, you may find talking within a confidential, safe therapeutic environment may help you process the thoughts, feelings and experiences, that can often feel too heavy or painful to carry alone.
The most important thing is developing a therapeutic relationship, where you you feel safe and heard. I believe connection is so important, and a strong sense of trust and respect is vital. I am not robotic! I work intuitively and will gently tune in to you and your experience, I want to understand what is happening for you in that moment. I want for you to experience a safe, nurturing environment, where you may feel able to let go of the 'mask' that you present to the rest of the world, and feel a more authentic connection to yourself.
I know it may be hard to start counselling, and maybe you don’t know what to expect? You are not alone. Please feel free to send me an email, text message or give me a call and we can talk further about what you hope to get from counselling, and any concerns you may have about about getting started.
