I provide talking therapy for those who are having difficulties with their lives, struggling to cope, or are seeking to make positive changes.
I would like to introduce myself; I came into the field of counselling later in life drawing on my rich life experiences and passion of working with people. I have always served community, either as a volunteer in groups, working together towards a common aim or in an employed supportive role bringing together different organisations, groups and individuals to meet, talk and work together, from this I became aware that listening is crucial to understanding. Through my Counselling training, I learned that listening is a skill which involves the simplicity of being fully present, a freedom from distraction with no agenda other than to understand and walk alongside the other persons unique needs and experiences.
I believe that it is the relationship between counsellor and client which is key to the success of therapy, counselling has a capacity to heal and help people work through painful, traumatic and challenging life events. It’s a space to organise your thoughts and make better sense of the situation. It’s a space where you can talk, engage and tell your story and gain deeper self-awareness.
We each have the resources within us to flourish and live a fulfilling life but sometimes these resources can get blocked or affected by our experiences, impacting how we feel about ourselves. Talking therapy can help you to understand your experience creating a shift in perspective
