The third decade of the 21st century.   Technology has evolved, health care has advanced, and a tsunami of information (or stimulation) is seconds away at the tips of our fingers.  Yet people, being people, will experience human difficulties, imperfections, emotional distress and trouble trying to figure themselves or a significant other(s) out.  If you are reading this, you maybe one of the aforementioned people I refer too.  Don’t get too disheartened and take hope.  Many of us struggle.  In fact everyone will at some point.  None of us are immune.   You have taken a courageous step to see what support is out there.  From this first tentative glance at a Therapy Directory, I strongly believe the potential of growth is never far away.

If you have ever felt lost within yourself, disconnected, struggle with a poor sense of self or even find yourself getting swept away by the digital tide in your pocket (or wherever the device upon your person or environment resides), Counselling may be of benefit to you.  I am a Professionally Accredited Therapist with the NCPS and I have over 13 years of experience post qualification of providing therapy in a variety of settings with a diverse range of individuals.  These settings include my private practice, the charitable sector and with EAP’s (both internally and as an affiliate).  I am fully insured and committed to at least 30 hours per year of CPD keep knowledge and learning fresh.

My approach is Person Centred.  The Rogerian and humanistic form of therapy that places the individual at the centre of their experience (not what I, or any other person thinks your experience ought to be).  My perspective of my Person Centred approach is a pluralistic one.  I can utilise research proven tools to help you attain your particular goals.  I am here to work alongside you collaboratively not to take control of your autonomy and destination.  I aim to empower you through a warm, safe and accepting space that you can bring your biggest challenges.  My down to earth way of being (or so I have been told) recognises it is not easy to go to someone else with a concern that perhaps to this point may have been closely guarded.  I want to, at your pace and rhythm, be with you along the road to clarity, perspective and meaningful action.

Achieving a more Analogue existence in a digital age.

Life can be incredibly delicate and challenging no matter what stage of life you are at.  Everyone wants your attention and every device beeps or lights up.  Perhaps you feel that the issue is no one is wanting your attention and there is no bleeps or lights.  Loneliness a very real reality in a world supposedly so connected.  Are you struggling with identity in the digital realm of social media where the person you portray perhaps does not match to your inner self?  Perhaps you have experienced financial debt, emotional strain or any other issue relating to advancing how others perceive you on a social media platform?

Some may find themselves getting swept along at break neck speed with keeping up with multiple social media platforms, messaging platforms or through the medium of video.  Pressure, stress and self consciousness can be over powering.  Maybe very simply you spend too much time digitally.  You might be gaming, scrolling compulsively, and scanning social media constantly .  The stimulation from these and other digitally related behaviours are short lived and not very fulfilling or indeed healthy.  Pornography has become problematic amongst the population because never has sex been so accessible to the human eye before.

Analogue in short means a purposeful and deliberate attempt to lessen your usage or even reliance on the digital world.  We realistically cannot get rid of all the tech in our lives.  The Air Fryer must stay.  Tech and social media can be powerful and positive.  It is when it is doing harm that it is worth examining and perhaps through therapy finding your own version of analogue which will bring you a greater peace of mind.  The Person Centred approach dictates that I am not here to tell you how to live your life or moderate.  You are the sole pilot of that ship.  I am here to facilitate that journey and assist you with the steering.
