Hello, I'm Rachel.

As a client if find yourself having problems with relationships, current life circumstances or aspects of your past, if things are difficult for you, I can offer you warm, safe, confidential, and professional counselling.

If you are a supervisee I offer effective, collaborative supervision and am passionate about relationships, trauma and the theoretical underpinnings of clinical work.

My take on psychotherapy/counselling:

Essentially it is a journey taken by two people in a room (or virtual space) (probably) talking. On the one hand that sounds simple and on one level it is.

What you can expect from counselling/psychotherapy with me:

A good psychotherapist will offer you a safe space to talk through what you need to, giving you the opportunity to really hear yourself clearly.  It is your journey, and I will walk alongside you wherever it takes us.  It may include words, images, feelings, or body sensations to help us understand your experiences.  This can be a difficult process to do which involves hard work and sometimes people feel worse before they feel better which can be challenging.

By experiencing a genuine, honest, professional, safe, and caring relationship with your psychotherapist/counsellor it allows you to have a better understanding of yourself and means you can experience greater freedom and explore choices that you weren’t aware of before.

Once you have this awareness there is a choice as to whether you would like things to change or not.  I believe it is vital that the person in control of the direction of the process is you, the client and that I am with you whatever you decide, whether that is to continue in therapy to effect change, or to stay the same in which case we can work on how you would like to move forward.

However, most people who are motivated to change and continue to work through the challenges often find it a life changing experience.

I am a  Supervisor who works Collaboratively with Counsellors / Psychotherapists.  How would it be to Deepen Your Therapeutic Practice?

Effective clinical supervision is an essential part of counselling and psychotherapy.  As an experienced psychotherapist, I offer a space for supervisees to enhance their practice by working in a warm, reflective, collaborative way, with an appropriate level of challenge. I am particularly interested in relationships, trauma and the theoretical underpinnings of your clinical work.

Together we can:

  • Consider complex cases: Explore trauma, relationship dynamics, and ethical dilemmas in a safe, supportive space.
  • Solidify your theoretical framework: Integrate theory with practical application to inform your work.
  • Refine your therapeutic skills: Explore your therapeutic relationships and enhance your ability to hold a strong therapeutic presence.

I offer:

  • Individual and group supervision: Flexible options to suit your needs, including trainees.
  • A trauma-informed approach: Understanding the impact of trauma on clients and therapists.
  • Emphasis on relational dynamics: Explore how relationships impact both clients and the therapeutic process, using the 7-eyed supervision model as a basis for our work.
  • Strong theoretical foundation: Integrate a range of theoretical perspectives to enrich your practice.

What I bring:

  • Experience both from the therapy (Charity, NHS & Private Practice), corporate and teaching worlds, broadening my horizons when considering the landscape you operate in.
  • Approved tutor on L4 CPCAB Therapeutic Counselling Course, with extensive experience of Group Supervision.
  • Qualifications: MSc in Person-Centred & Experiential Psychotherapy; BSc (Hons) Life Sciences; PGDipEd; QTS; UKCP (Accredited).

  • Fees statement
My standard fee is £75 per session. I accept payment by BACS (bank transfer) and fees must be paid 48 hours in advance to secure your session with me. There are a limited number of reduced rate sessions available which can be accessed either by therapists-in-training or for those with specific needs. Please do ask if cost would be a barrier to us working together, as we may be able to come to an arrangement that works for us both. I offer an initial free short telephone conversation with time for us to explore how it might be working with me. I am also an approved provider for counselling and psychotherapy with Aviva and AXA PPP Heathcare, giving clients a further route to access therapy with me.
