Hello, I'm Lisa. I am a person-centred therapist working online/by phone across the UK, as well as face to face in Canterbury and Hythe in Kent.
You don’t need to know what you want to say before you come to therapy – you may not even know where to start. I will do my best to meet you exactly where you are with warmth and authenticity, and we can begin to work it out together. There is no right or wrong way to do counselling, nothing you bring will be too big or too small. It will be your space to get help with whatever it is you want to talk about.
Who I work with
You may be living with anxiety, depression or a mental health diagnosis, and feel that people don't always see or hear the person behind the label you’ve been given. Maybe you are struggling with relationships and want a place to work out your feelings or what to do next. Or you might be having suicidal thoughts and longing for somewhere you can talk openly about how you're feeling, without fear of judgement.
Having been a Samaritan for a number of years and witnessing how it’s predominantly men who use the service when they really need help, I'm really passionate about encouraging men to feel comfortable about starting therapy, especially those who've grown used to keeping things to themselves or feeling they have to cope alone.
I also have a personal and professional interest in neurodivergence, particularly ADHD and autism, and understand how exhausting it can be to navigate a world that doesn't always recognise or accommodate your needs.
How I work
I fell in love with the philosophy behind person-centred counselling after reading On Becoming a Person by Carl Rogers and am still astounded by the transformative effects this approach can bring about. I will be genuinely interested in you, in what your life experiences have been and how you are feeling. I will welcome all parts of you, even if you don’t (yet) welcome them yourself, and I will always strive to understand how things are for you as best as I possibly can. My role as your therapist won’t be to tell you what to do, but to help you better understand yourself. Hopefully this will start to unburden the weight you are carrying with the hope it will lead you to finding your own answers. I work from a neuro-affirming and anti-oppressive perspective, recognising how experiences of discrimination, exclusion or being treated as being different can affect the way we see ourselves and relate to others. My aim is to offer a relationship where you feel heard, understood and accepted exactly as you are.
What I offer
I offer individual therapy for anyone over the age of 16 every weekday from Monday to Friday. I offer sessions online or by phone, as well as from the heart of Canterbury on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and in Hythe on Fridays.
Sessions are £65 for 50 minutes, and you are welcome to have as many or as few sessions as you need. You get to choose the content of the sessions as I will never guide you or decide this for you.
If you feel that I might be the right counsellor for you, I would really love to hear from you. We can explore what you are looking for from therapy in a free 20-minute introductory call and we can decide together whether we would be a good fit.
You can see my live availability and book a free introductory call with me here.

Accessibility Comments
Unfortunately the rooms I rent can only be reached by stairs so I am not currently wheelchair accessible in person.
I offer onlien and phone appointments across the UK and always endeavour to meet any accessibility requirements whenever I can by listening to your needs and responding the best I can. I normally hold online sessions on Zoom and can also offer Proton if preferred. You are welcome to attend with your camera on or off, or use the phone if that feels more comfortable for you.
I am very aware of the impact of other needs, including sensory, cognitive and energy-related needs. If there is anything that would make your sessions (or introductory call) more comfortable and accessible for you then please let me know.
