tPCA's online conference - freedom to exist in a difficult world
tPCA is pleased to announce our online conference, hosted by OnlineEvents: Freedom to exist in a difficult world.
The conference will be on 18th April and tickets are available to buy here
'Freedom to exist in a difficult world' is aimed at any therapists (both qualified and in training) who have considered (or who have had clients considering) this topic. In a world that increasingly seeks to place people at binary poles, we miss the nuance and intricacy that impacts so many of us. As person-centred counsellors (and more broadly, counsellors in general) we try to meet our clients with empathic understanding. We cannot meet clients where they are if we do not understand them — we can only meet them where we are.
This conference day is a day of exploration, of gentle challenge, of curiosity and compassion, and we would welcome anyone who would like to explore these ideas, concepts and experiences further.
We have three streams of workshops, plus the option of encounter whilst all the workshops are running. Timings are below.
The workshop general themes are as follows:
Opening Keynote: Sam Hope - What if your therapist doesn't believe you exist?
Closing Keynote: Stephen Joseph - Reflections on Freedom, Therapy and Authenticity, from a Person-Centred Perspective
Morning:
Antara Jain: Between autonomy and belonging. A south-Asian perspective on freedom in a collectivist conext
LJ Loveys: The experience of trans and non-binary people training to be person-centred therapists
James Tolly: An examination of outcome measurement in therapy, in relation to person-centred theory
Ananya Reynolds: Exploring menstrual cycle awareness and clinical licing perspectives as a tool to deepen the relationship we have with ourselves as person-centred counsellors
Kate Clancy: Plural identity and the person-centred approach
Carys Jones: Menstruation (further details to follow)
Afternoon:
Matt Bolton: I wish i knew how it would feel to be free. Neurodivergent musings on freedom and authenticity in an incongruent world
Fleur Farish-Edwards: Weaving voice, courage and creative resistance in a difficult world: research, neurodivergence and counsellor training as lived, relational processes
Karen Pollock: Rejection as an act of resistation. A conversation with prompts around the topic of 'rejection as an act of resistance'. This starts from their decision to step outside of accreditation processes.
Rachel Sutton: Feeedom through therapy. Discussing the concept of gaining freedom as a process of change, but considering multiple parts of self as being at different points along the process.
Maria Kontarini: An open discussion around how we meet polarisation in the therapy room with clients.

Because we are running the conference through OnlineEvents it has not been possible to run both a tiered attendance price and a membership price. This is something we will be able to consider differently next year. Ticket prices start at £25 and give you entry on the day, and access to any of the workshops that are recorded (and currently a majority of presenters have consented to this).
