A Seat at the Table - Saturday 25th May 2024

A morning writing on the theme of belonging.

We will explore the fundamental need as well as exquisite desires to belong, the urge to be part of something greater than ourself.  A gentle opportunity to see how we’ve travelled with this idea, how it sits within us.

Design in still in process and material is being gathered in from poems, archetypes, aspects of the natural world.. ..metaphor and myth. Writing into our own family dynamics around the table  - or table ‘events’ if this didn’t form a large part of upbringing - will form part of our morning.

The prompts I design around these will hopefully help us to gently explore our experiences of belonging, help us into a reflective process and the chance to create narratives in various forms.  

We will open with a simple body awareness activity to help us step into embodied experiences of writing.

There will be small group activities to share either the process of writing (or the writing itself if you feel moved to) within our temporary writing community.

This is not about grammar or even product necessarily but certainly for those who value self-reflection and creativity.
