I'm Emma, welcome to my profile. I'm a fully qualified counsellor, with experience of supporting adults through emotional difficulty, relationship problems, life transitions and periods of overwhelm. I work in-person and online.
Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful, accomplished individuals who are managing day-to-day life but feel emotionally exhausted, adrift, dissatisfied or disconnected from themselves. They may be experiencing depression, anxiety, or that life simply feels 'too much'.
My approach is relational and person‑centred; I endeavour to create an atmosphere of ease and openness, offering a warm and caring manner through which a safe and secure 'container' is established. My focus is on building a genuine therapeutic relationship with you, using sensitive inquiry, compassion, authentic involvement and a desire to understand the challenges in your life - essentially what brought you to therapy (this isn't always obvious).
Conditions such as anxiety, depression and low self-esteem can serve as signals that something is preventing us from thriving in our lives. Beginning counselling can be daunting, but living with unresolved challenges can be even more distressing.
Some people need just a handful of sessions to navigate a particular difficulty. Others stay longer and find that returning each week becomes an anchor in itself. Longer-term work can open up a depth of trust capable of supporting more lasting change. We can work together to find the right shape and duration for you.
Choosing the right counsellor is important. Your first introductory session lasts 55 minutes and costs £30; it involves beginning to explore what brought you here and how you are feeling currently. This is a great, unhurried way for you to get a sense of how I work and how you feel speaking to me. We can begin the conversation about what you are looking for from therapy and I can answer any questions you may have.
Once we have agreed to work together, my fee for session two and beyond is £70. These also last 55 minutes.
Please contact me with any questions or to arrange your introductory session.
