As counselling students you will probably have written a lot of assignments about the person-centred approach and how it relates to various intersecting topics. Depending on which qualification route you took, you may also have written a dissertation project. Some of your assignments have done really well, but those are all too often simply consigned to the depths of an electronic archive.
We are three academics who are person-centred therapists by training or inclination. We feel that there is a wealth of understanding and experience being generated by trainees, that is missing from the literature base. We would like to expand the knowledge and understanding that is available.
With this in mind, we have created a student edition of the ‘Person-Centered and Experiential Therapies’ journal. We are inviting any student or recent graduate who has an assignment/piece of writing that you would like to submit. The key here is that we are trying to showcase people new to the world of academic publication in the person-centred world.
Submissions can range from 1000-6500 words, depending on the format, and we allow for some non-traditional formats also such as posters . Please check out this link to find out more about what parameters there are and how to submit, or contact Mel Whitter or LJ Potter if you have any queries. We will offer you all the support that we can in helping you to amend something for publication. By participating you will also have the opportunity to be part of the peer review process and learn more about the publication of academic articles. Papers from FE & HE are welcomed, you can bring your research from Undergraduate dissertations though to Doctoral work.
Please consider this – the more submissions we have, the better the journal edition will be, and the more likely it is that we will be able to create a new tradition of showcasing student research.
