Episode 5: Grief and loss

How person-centred psychotherapy is uniquely suited to working with the subject of death and loss, and why engaging with this topic can bring us closer to fully living.

Rachael speaks to Kate Hoyland (she/her) a person-centred psychologist and producer of the Encounters Podcast.

Rachael writes:  

Kate and I agreed it was a powerful experience recording the episode and one that stayed with us long after. Death is an inevitable in life and the connecting nature of our conversation really countered (for us) the aloneness that can surround these conversations as well as the ‘taboo’ nature with which they are perceived in white western culture(s). We agreed on the importance of ongoing openness and curiosity towards the complexity and variety with which people perceive death and grief (culturally, spiritually and personally etc.).

The UK Council for Psychotherapy has resources on the climate crisis and feelings arising from this. There are also global networks of Climate Cafes for finding community in the face of the climate crisis/catastrophe.
