Our deadline for applications for September 2022 has closed and we look to recruit more volunteers in 2023

Requirements
Before a student applies to Compass for a placement we ask them to confirm that they meet the following criteria: The student  Must be studying on a Counselling/Psychotherapy training course that results in a recognised qualification at a minimum of Diploma level. The training must not be an online/ distance learning course and must include a significant placement element. We aim to take the majority of our trainees from BACP accredited training courses but will accept a smaller number from non - accredited counselling training where the course content and quality is comparable. Must be a student member of BACP Must be prepared to attend and fund in- house supervision with one of the Compass supervisors in accordance with BACP supervision guidelines. The current fee for placement supervision is £35.00 per hour Placements  will normally be for 3 client hours per week during office hours, Mon – Fri as Compass is not open at weekends. The placement will normally be for an 18 month period.  Needs to be able to work with clients within a time limited framework (up to a maximum of 24 sessions ) Will have been assessed as fit to start on placement by the course tutor and provide evidence of this at interview. Since August 2020 we ask that course tutors provide evidence relating to fitness to start for both face to face counselling and for counselling that can be delivered remotely (for example either telephone or video counselling). This is due to the current uncertainty regarding face to face provision in the light of Covid 19.  The successful candidate will then be asked to provide two references (one from course tutor) regarding their suitability for a placement with Compass. An enhanced DBS is also required to be in place before the placement commences, provided via the training institution. Reviewed August 2020
