Keith Abbott (Dr)

Person-Centred Counsellor / Psychotherapist in

I'm passionate about using counselling to help people make more of their lives. I have a Masters degree (with distinction) in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy. I counsel in Loughborough, Nottingham and online. My clients are equally split between men and women, cover many occupations and nationalities, and range in age from late teens/students to working, unemployed and retired adults. I help people face a variety of personal and psychological issues, and to make more of their lives, careers, relationships, and friendships. I've counselled at an NHS hospital, a Nottingham charity, and in private practice.

I've counselled clients who come to counselling for a wide range of reasons, not just because they have a diagnosis (like depression or an anxiety disorder) so that counselling is taking place alongside or instead of medication.  Some of the other feelings and issues clients have brought to me include:   seeking help with changing addictive habits involving substances or sex, expressing or coping with their own or another person’s anger, bereavement, facing big changes, feeling bullied  or taken advantage of by others, feeling very lonely,  worries about  making and keeping friends or partners, dating issues, getting along with work colleagues, finding good relationships and leaving bad or abusive ones,  anxieties facing social situations,  stress in work or study, suicidal thoughts, self-harming, “getting over” trauma or past abuse, concerns for the meaning of life,  and a sense of being trapped in an unfulfilling jobs or relationship.  These are just examples.
