Salary: £39,609 to £48,677 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham is seeking to recruit a Counsellor to join its team of energetic, highly qualified, experienced and committed practitioners who work in the University Counselling Service. The post offers a great opportunity to work in a highly rated university with an excellent reputation and a solid post-qualifying employment and research record.

The University of Nottingham Counselling Service is a respected and well-used service which provides a free and confidential service for students and staff. The clinical team comprises practitioners working with a broad range of theoretical orientations. The core service offered is individual short-term counselling. Over 2200 clients attended for counselling in academic year 2016/2017. Therapeutic groups and workshops are an important and integral element of the service offered to the university community.

Candidates should have a degree or substantial work experience. They must be accredited with the BACP or equivalent recognised professional body. The UCS adheres to the BACP Ethical framework 2018 and it's expected our counsellors will work to the framework standards.

 Key responsibilities

Availability to offer our counselling service on all of the university’s UK campuses.
Undertake counselling consultations to assess risk and negotiate appropriate intervention.
Offer counselling, primarily short term to student and staff members of the University community.
To work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018).
To contribute to the delivery of the Groups and Workshops programme of the service and deliver training input as required.
To contribute fully to service development, working as part of a team.
To fulfil the administrative and record-keeping requirements of the serviceTo be willing and able to work on other University of Nottingham campuses.

This is a permanent position. The post will be offered on a full time basis (36.25 hours per week). However, job share arrangements may be considered (3 days and 2 days per week).

The interview will be held on Thursday 29 August. The interview process will take the whole day and the date cannot be changed.
