The Center was founded by Carl Rogers and his colleagues in 1968.They also established the La Jolla Program, which follows the person-centred approach developed by Rogers over fifty years ago. Thousands of people from around the world have come to learn, experiment, study and experience the person-centred approach and to integrate its concepts into their lives.

The Program provides a rich and potent setting for the possibility of transformational growth. The eight days will be spent in a combination of small group and community time with the exact pattern of each day being negotiated with participants, placing high value on mutual respect, careful listening and the acceptance of differences.
