Certificate* in Supervision (An application for BACP Endorsement is currently being processed) Lead Tutor: Mike Worrall This Certificate in Supervision is suitable for qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals who have at least 2 years post-qualifying experience, and who are interested in supervising the practice of others. We offer the course over five 2-day modules. Our own work as counsellors and supervisors is informed by the philosophy and principles of person-centred practice. We have, therefore, based this Certificate in Supervision on person-centred approaches to learning. We aim to cultivate a co-operative learning environment, within which you can experiment, reflect upon and learn from your own practice, and enhance your skills as a supervisor. We will work with you to identify your own learning needs, and to develop your own approach to supervision, whatever your original training or current practice. The course as a whole looks at the relevance of person-centred theory to the practice of supervision, and supports the development of collaborative, creative supervisory relationships. You will have the opportunity to explore and clarify your attitudes, beliefs and feelings as supervisors, and to develop your own skills and competences. We expect to develop the precise content of the course in collaboration with you. These are some of the issues which we are likely to explore: What is supervision? - How does it differ from therapy? - Contracts - Responsibilities and boundaries in supervision - Different models of supervision - Interpersonal process recall - Personal processes in supervision - Power, context and diversity - Legal and ethical dilemmas in supervision - Supervision within organisations We will respond to and take account of your individual learning needs, and support your development as reflective practitioners. In each module we will offer opportunities for practice, for theoretical input and for discussion in large and small groups. This course is suitable for you if you are interested in supervision and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience post-qualification in counselling, counselling psychology or psychotherapy, or if you work in a related profession, or have an equivalent level of training and experience. *If you already have a Certificate in Supervision, we offer the option to attend this course to extend your qualification to Diploma level, again endorsed by the BACP (application pending). We will ask to see proof of your Certificate qualification. If you think you might want to take this option, please contact one of us. Entry Criteria We ask you to show a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in your particular field, in a health-care related environment. You may, for instance, be a counsellor, psychologist, psychotherapist, coach or tutor. We do not ask you to have been practicing in supervision before the course, or to find supervisees during it.
